Aspirational Routine

What part of your routine do you always try to skip if you can?

Exercise is often the most difficult, I know it makes me feel better but it is so easy to ignore. That being said these past few days I have found ways to prioritize movement in a way that is flexible enough for me to not hate it. The Rally Coaching sessions I’ve been attending have covered the idea of NEAT, Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis, which has really helped me to become creative with how I recognize small successes.

Because my mind had been opened to recognizing the value of these types of movement I have been open to ways of moving my body without disrupting my routine too much. I have periods of the evening where all I want to do is watch YouTube videos and now I use them to practice small repetitive movements like lateral arm raises, leg raises, butterfly stretches, one sided abdominal twists, etc. With winter coming and the growing inaccessibility of nature walks to motivate me to move, these types of exercise can be a great tool for those frequent days when making it to the gym is not within reach.
