Platy Help

Written by:

The platy’s have been in the tank for almost two weeks. The nitrite levels have been pretty high, upwards of 2ppm, the entire time. I have been doing partial water changes every other day and so far have not noticed much of a decline in the levels. I am going to continue making changes to reduce the nitrite levels, but I wanted to check that the platies’ behavior couldn’t be attributed to anything else I need to worry about.

As you can see in the photo they have started gathering in the corner and swimming in place near the bottom. Occasionally, as you can see demonstrated by the blur that is Husky, one will swim up and come back down pretty quickly. If I go over to the tank I notice they will leave the corner and occasionally throughout the day will engage in fairly normal behavior. But they have been rather consistently favoring hanging in the corner near the bottom. Can anyone offer insight or advice?
