April Round Up

Written by:

April flew by. As it is May 1st, my partner and I have access to our new rental home. It has been chaotic prepping for and starting the move. Thankfully we have time and probably won’t be cleaned out of my current place until May 11. I’ve decided I’m taking all of my perfumes. I’ve been using them a lot these past few months and they bring me a lot of joy. I believe I’ve already updated you on my bookshelf. I will eventually whittle that number down but for now, I’m content to carry and move all of them.

A few weeks ago I got storage totes for the move from my mom and I got rid of my dresser. It was falling apart anyway and I had wanted to be rid of it for at least 6 months prior. As I was rearranging my things and thinking about the move I realized I did not want my eyeshadow palettes and I had no use for my makeup brushes. So I tossed them all. It was very freeing to be down to the essentials and a few extra lip products because they bring me joy.

When it comes to skin and body care April was a weird month. I was down to the very last bits of most of my skincare routine: cleanser, spray, moisturizer, and sunscreen. So within a span of two weeks, I bought backups for each of those so that I wouldn’t have to rush out when the one I was using ended. Most of these products surprised me with how much longer they lasted while on their last leg than I expected. The moisturizer, which you may notice isn’t pictured, was the only one I had an explanation for. The bottle had a pump and it was clear the pump couldn’t reach what was left but there was too much left to toss. I saved it in a small container and since I had so much more control over the amount I used vs a pump I used a lot less than normal. With everything else, I think I just overestimated how much product got used each day.

With the move, I had a thought that maybe I could make posts about it, especially since I enjoy moving/redecorating videos. But it’s been so stressful I haven’t gotten a decent night’s sleep in days. There might be another stress-induced hiatus for a couple of weeks. I do intend for a future post to discuss the new vs second-hand and wait versus need-it-now decisions that go into furnishing a new place when you’ve got practically nothing.
