The first thing I should note that I don’t think I was clear enough about last week is that as much as I have an idea of what I might want to buy I’m not expecting myself to only stick to that list. So last week I thought I’d only buy the yoga blocks and poster frames. I did buy them, for $15 and $10 respectively, then I realized I was running low on eye cream and would need a replacement soon. I also realized that because it was my birthday month I would be able to receive some free or discounted products from a few stores.
So I went online to Sephora to see what the options were, both in terms of new eye creams I might want to try and free birthday gifts. Based on what I saw online I thought I wouldn’t be getting any of the birthday gifts because they didn’t interest me. I did see that I could use my points to get 3 product samples that I was really interested in. To get the samples shipped I would need to spend $25. So I looked around and found a $26 mini pack of Drunk Elephant’s D-bronzi and Bloosi drops.
I put everything in my cart and then I waited. There was no real reason other than I didn’t feel like pulling out my debit card to fill out all the info so I waited. When I came back a couple days later, the samples I wanted to order were taken off the site. So I emptied my cart. I’m ultimately glad I did because I unexpectedly found myself at a mall over the weekend and I got to try the D-bronzi and Bloosi drops and realized I wouldn’t like them.
Since I was in store I got to try a bunch of products and landed on the Glossier Eye Cream for $28. I also got to talk to one of the associates about my concerns regarding my acne. We decided that I would buy and tryout the Farmacy Honey Milk essence which was $34. Apparently since I last checked the birthday gifts they added a Summer Fridays trial set of the lip balm and the jet lag mask. I have always wanted to try their lip balm and was going to wait till I finished the ones I currently own, but I decided I’d take advantage of the free trial size.
The only other thing I really avoided buying was a Harry Potter car decal. It was only $5 and it was really interesting but I couldn’t let go of this idea that I didn’t want to continue upholding JKR any more than I currently am. I am considering how I can part with the game I’m not going to play again.
For the upcoming week I really only have one thing that I’m thinking of shopping for. I have store credit for a used bookstore that I didn’t get a chance to use and will likely be going back to find some books I want to add to my collection. I can’t really think of other non essentials I’m planning on buying and this week is already pretty busy so I shouldn’t have to much time to shop.
