Week 3 Update

So my low buy really said lol it’s time for a book haul. I mentioned last week that I had plans to go book shopping at a used bookstore where I had store credit. The plan was to visit the store on Saturday. Monday through Friday I did no shopping for nonessentials. I think part of what helped was that the items that I bought last week were online purchases and so they arrived over the course of this past week.

At the used book store I purchased a total of 6 books, 3 for me and 3 for my partner. Between the store credit and the coupon we had I only paid $10. Of the books I got, one is The Book of Less by Irene Smit and Astrid Van Der Hulst. I’m excited for all of the worksheets and extras the book includes. I also got The Age of Magical Overthinking by Amanda Montell and The F*ck It Diet by Caroline Dooner.

On Sunday my partner wanted to check out a Books A Million. He unfortunately did not find what he want, but I found a bunch of bargain books. I got The Antique Hunter’s Guide to Murder by C.L. Miller for $8, A Catered Doggie Wedding by Isis Crawford for $8, Bark to the Future by Spencer Quinn for $8, One of Us by Åsne Seierstad for $6, American Sherlock by Kate Winkler Dawson for $6, and Cults by Max Cutler and Kevin Conley for $10.

All in all I spent nearly $60 on books this past weekend. I know I’ve been working on downsizing my physical TBR, but I cannot currently regret these purchases. I’m sure I will in a couple weeks when they’re all still sitting on my shelves contributing to decision fatigue and overwhelm.

Currently I am reading through two books that have been borrowed from the library. The first is the Wilderness of Girls by Madeline Claire Franklin and the second is The God of The Woods by Liz Moore. I have also started Cults. I’m hoping that since my studying period is over I’ll have more free time to read for fun. I’m also noticing that these books are moving faster for me than others that I’ve read recently. With all of the factors in mind I’ve told my partner to put a pause on borrowing books for me so I can focus on the books I’ve acquired.
